Thursday, September 8, Meet and Greet 5 p.m., Guest Speakers 6 p.m. – HABSE, Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educators. Join Superintendent Jeff Eakins, HCPS Chief Diversity Officer Minerva Spanner-Morrow, along with other educators and the community during the HABSE Meet and Greet. Kona Grill, 4134 W. Boy Scout Blvd. Tampa.
Friday, September 9, 8:30 a.m. - Ribbons to Remember - Nelson Elementary. Students, staff, and visitors will gather in the school courtyard to remember and honor the heroes of September 11th. They will also recognize the contributions of military families and those serving in law enforcement and as firefighters. Four different colored ribbons will be placed on trees in the school courtyard. Parents serving in the military will be joined by their children to place the ribbons on the trees. The Durant High School ROTC Color Guard will do the presentation of colors. Nelson Elementary is located at 5413 Durant Road, Dover.
Thursday, September 15, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - 90th Anniversary Celebration – Brewster Technical College, Join students and staff as they celebrate 90 years of educating the community. In 1923, Mrs. Florence Brewster donated the property on which the school is located to the Hillsborough County School Board in memory of her husband, Dr. Henry W. Brewster. A binding condition of the donation was that the property must be utilized for vocational technical training. Brewster Technical has served the community through the years by meeting business and industry needs, teaching occupational coursework and job skills to students, and offering industry training for employees. Brewster Technical College is located at 2222 N. Tampa Street.
