Welcoming New HCPS Educators

Tampa, Fla. – (July 13, 2017) – Nearly 600 educators, new to Hillsborough County Public Schools, will come together for the Hillsborough Educators Institute July 17-18 at Gaither High School, to gain insight into the district and learn best practices to be the most effective teacher in the classroom.
Superintendent Jeff Eakins, School Board Chair Cindy Stuart, as well as other School Board members and district staff will welcome the participants on Monday, July 17 at 8:30 a.m. Following the opening remarks, teachers will transition into sessions organized by area, by school and by grade level.
Day two, on July 18, will offer participants a variety of sessions from which to choose including; increasing engagement in everyday classroom activities, classroom management, and knowing your students through data. The teachers will choose three- 50 minutes sessions before leaving at noon for orientation at their respective school sites.
The theme of the Hillsborough Educators Institute is “Learn, Grow, Thrive” and is the first opportunity for these new hires to learn about the more than 212,000 students they’ll be welcoming in to their classrooms on the first day of school, August 10, and hear Superintendent Eakins’ message for the new year.
